FEED Member Spotlight

Al Lockett

Meet the engine behind the success of FEED First USA, Gwen Collins. When you see Gwen you immediately think of the Energizer Bunny. She just keeps on going. Gwen started with the organization as an Administrative Assistant six years ago and worked her way up to Director and Board Member. Her hard work, commitment, and dedication became apparent from day one. There hasn't been any job at FEED 1st that Gwen has not done. If a cook was out, she cooked. If we needed a driver, she drove. From Site Facilitator to Site Coordinator, Gwen has done them all. At the end of the day when most of us go home, she goes out to exercise and run several miles or the stadium steps. Three years ago she was asked to step into the role as Food Service Director and then to direct the whole operation. Last year she was voted on to the Board of Directors and remains a loyal and important asset to the organization. FEED 1st is fortunate and blessed to have her as an integral part of the management team.

Community Resources

FEED First News
We provide meals, enrichment activities, and educational support to underserved at-risk populations 18 years of age and younger. The meals we prepare serve as great inducement to get children off the streets during the high crime hours between 3pm to 6pm. It allows youths to participate in enrichment activities and educational support in a safe and secure environment. Our program has been greatly received and serves a critical need in communities ravaged by poverty and high crime.
